    does anyone know the difference between
    Worksheets("Sheet1").Select and
    Worksheets("Sheet1").Activate ?

    .select eh selects the object. It can then be references with with the selection keyword.
    Normally select is used for a block of cells

    The .activate line would bring the sheet to the foreground.

    So you could reference cells in a sheet without it being in the foreground with select.
