    New DesertCombat patch [.39] will be released tomorrow, Friday 15th August. The DC team have given a list of the changes and new additions to the mod.
    Full Battlefield 1942
    Version 1.45 Compatibility
    New DesertPatrol Vehicle (Dune Buggy)
    New Guided Cruise Missle
    M203 and GP30 grenade launchers have been toned down
    New Map, Oil Fields feature lots of new static and animated objects
    New Ural Tanker
    Improved Khafji Docks map, fixed cheats and bugs
    New PKM model
    New F16 model and rockets
    New Mig29 model and rockets
    Added new Afterburner effect
    New shorter radio voice sounds
    New M16 sounds
    Added M-109 and M-1974 artillary arc
    Increased MP5 Accuracy
    Incresed fighter jet guns power against other jets
    Made rockets have larger explosion radius against other planes. (AA-10, MagicII and Aim9)
    AA rockets get straight flight path
    AA rockets converge at 250m
    AA rockets increased velocity
    Hellfires, AT-3s, FFARs given 150m convergance
    Hellfires, AT-3s, FFARs begin slightly outside rocket pods to reduce collisions when turning
    Hellfire / AT-3 velocity increased
    New gun sound for F-16, Mig29
    Increased sound range for Avenger cannon
    Optimized all simple models and view distances for greater performance
    Edited all soundscripts for increased performance and quality
    Fixed Humvee windows
    Added new rocket trail for RPG and Helicopter rockets
    Added RPG scope
    Added high deviation when running and jumping with RPG and SMAW
    Added Crosshairs to RPG and SMAW
    Added M203 iron sight
    Added Gp30 iron sight
    Stinger has very little effect on soldiers
    Fixed Stinger direct Hit
    Added Ah-64 rocket spiral
    Added AH-64 hydras weak against armor
    Lower M-109, M-1974 against armour
    Added new effect to M-109, M-1974 to reflect splash damage
    Reduced smoke on ZPU
    Reduced mortar power against armour

    Im not sure about the file size or weather there will be a small v.38 to v.39 patch. Hopefully there will be. If there is none i may be asking for a CD again ........ :(

    It says on the blurb there that its compatible with the 1.45 patch, is that also coming out tomorrow or is it already out

    As of yet i havent heard anything of the v1.45 patch. EA/Dice are keeping quiet on that. There is a chance that it may be released tomorrow but as of now no news has been released.

    The 1.45 patch will possibly have something to do with the Secret Weapons Of World Ward II expansion pack [Release Date: 5th September 2003]. I know with Road To Rome there was a 1.25 patch that only existed on the RTR CD and was never released.
    This 1.45 patch probably adds some features to Battlefield1942 for Secret Weapons compatability. I know the DC team have been given [i think] patches by Dice in development. Thus helping the DC team create patches as quick as possible.

    We will just have to wait though. Ill have information on it as quick as possible. Though ill be busy weekend tomorrow. [Friday and Saturday down here]

    DC 0.39k is quite tasty alright. New sounds galore - radio chatter has been shortened, M16A2 sounds chunkier, with an iron sight on the grenade launcher (but theres a bug if you select it then get into the M103 artillery launcher), hydras and hellfires have new smoke trails, the hydras twist and turn, looks really cool :) The Apache's seem easier to fly, too.

    Oil Fields is a great new map, the animations from the flames look really nice. Haven't found the Dune Buggy yet, nor the Cruise Missile. It's a lot more aesthetically and aurally pleasing, overall.

    I like the afterburner, and new smoke trails from the missiles, and the m16 now sounds great, but..

    On DublinWAN theres quite a few gamers playing the DC mod, and have been doing so for some time now.

    Since installing the .39k patch we've experienced a crash of all systems when a "chopper duel" is in progress.

    Judging by other forums were not alone, so uninstalled it and went back to .38d, a shame

    I hope they sort this soon

    If it asks fer the 2nd disk, its cos the file on the disk was only about 50MB, or less, and the actual size is upwards of 300MB
