whats the story with the red shaft is it legal or wha?

Replace ure bolt2.mdl and bolt3.mdl with lazer.mdl,as von says its lame and it wont make you shaft any better. u could just colour ure ordinary shaft red, so it wouldnt be a straight line but would still be red.

Having a red shaft IS lame cos its easier to stay on a target with it. The regular shaft requires more skill cos its harder to use right.

That makes absolutely no sense whatsoever!

If it is lame to use something that helps your gameplaying without it actually being cheating, then almost everyone who plays quake is lame! Don't use the maouse, it helps you to turn! Don't use proxies, they make team games easier by enabling accurate communication.

dammit! What kind of Lamer uses a RL??? Really skillful players only use the single shotgun, and the best use only the axe!

So calling something lame because it helps someone to play is wrong! Whether or not it could be considered cheating or not... Hacked maps = cheating, bots = cheating

waterhack? Some would say that that was cheating but a lot of people used it (do people still use this?). Skins coloured to give better camoflage (sp??)? could that not be construed as an illegal aid ?

no the red shaft isnt cheating, anymore than allbright skins, modified nails or any of that sh!te, just that von is one of those die hard "use original paks no matter what" type of a lad. Everyone else has their quake modified in some way or other, whether they deny it or not.
Personally I have red nails, no gibs, no torches, used to have a white stripe down along the packs in my last quake folder, must get that back.

Zero hacked backpaks can be detected by quizmo, if u care . No torches is essential for any one with a **** computer as it eats up the fps. I use the normal shaft, i just made it yellow.

i prefer the original shaft! its not hard to use or anythin and looks better than the ****e red/white ones

the red shaft is class but it also depends on your puter.On my puter i use red shaft.But can still shaft better on sonics puter and he uses the normal one.I'D be lethal tho if sonic would let me put it on his puter as well

gman , no f****** way , i find the white shaft easier to aim with , i lked ronans red shaft model but after a while i realised it sucked , orion and myself werent long changin back. BTW gman u suck and u no it!!!

Red shaft isnt lame, its the same as any hacked model that ppl use, except like nicky says it makes it a lot clearer and easier to use. Personally I dont like the red shaft and cant use it, but I made that one you have Guinness, and it's ****e coz the length is wrong, so ure as well off gettin the original back.

I myself have no problem with people using modified PAKs, as I can't really stop them anyway. I don't use any form of modified PAK, map or skin, I don't even use any proxy other than Cheapo. But hey, thats just me. I suppose I'm a bit like Von (Not an ugly old fart, just a bit purist.)

You can always spot the fullbrights, when ure waiting in some dark corner on DM3 and some guy casually takes you out.

BTW, I still think GLQauke is by far the biggest advantage you can have in multiplayer Quake, anyone agree?

ya gl is definitly an advantage , i have seen some players turn textures foo in gl and the players stick out a mile , aswell even @ 40 fps it seems smooth in gl whereas i find i need 70+ to get the same "feel" in software

Yep GL is definately and advantage but not as much as ping, bloody cheating sub 100 ping ba$tards. Oh and PL you have no skill if you play with anything less than 15% pl. And ISDN'ers all use bots and can't get it up....and errr

fuken hell gandalf have yyou not seen are pl recently mine goes to 33 at some stages.it seems me and tarzan can only get a decent ping at 4 o clock in the mornen when osi is sleepen and not laggen us up
