Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I am thinking about purchasing backup exec 9 for the company Lan here. Been using the eval version for a while now and its hit and miss. I have heard mixed reports it - some say its great, but others tell tales of backups working some nights and then not working others with no changes being made to settings network etc. Similar to what is happening to me....

Any of you lot had any experience with it over a long period of time? How is it working out for you?

I backup regularly (these are all 2k sp4 boxes)

    1x SQL 2000
    1x Exchange 2000
    2x SharePoint Server 2001
8x Remote agents for file servers etc.

Since its a couple of grand I would love to get some feedback from other admins who use this software or who could recommend something else!

    Thanks alot!

Yeah I'd recommend it. My company use it in about 20 sites. Its very good, easily readable log files + good support when jobs do fail, although I dont think any of the sites has version 9. I think most of them have 8.*

Yep, I would also recommend it. I use 8.6 for production systems but I am quite impressed with the new reporting options in 9.
Veritas make pretty good software and provide good online support/patches.

    have a think about backups.

compare the price of HDD's and tapes and DVD writers ....
mirroring across a WAN could also be an option. EG: 2k can backup to a file on another machine - retrieving a single file is much faster from HDD's and DVD's

I've had so many un-good experiances with fancy backup software (especially arcserve) finding excuses not to run that if you can fit all the data on to a single tape overnight I'd nearly recomend the built in OS's backup sw
