Yeah I can just see that, yesterday afternoon there were some spectacular columns of white fluffy clouds to the north west of Waterford, wish I'd had my camera to hand.

Did you get rained on in Cork City yesterday (23/08/2004)? If so it was possibly this fellow shot at approx 13:15 yesterday from Mahon looking north west.

I was in Howth Harbour last week and saw a low cloud roll over the hill behind the harbour...

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,225 ✭✭✭highdef

Yeah, the amount of times it's foggy in Howth is astonishing due to its location sticking out into the Irish sea. Moist southerlies or southeasterlies readily condense and form some really thick fog once you get above about 300 feet. I reckon it's the foggiest location in Dublin.

This is central park at around lunch time on sunday.
My hands were freezing, it was 23f or -4 to -5 c or so and the wind was strong

Roughly 2 inches of snow there which was a big change for them as thursday was 17c!

Taken with a camera phone so apologies for the quality.
The crunch of snow under my feet was nice though :)

I'll not kill everyone's bandwidth by hotlinking, but took these couple last week when all those hail showers were moving in off the Irish sea.
Both are taken at Blackrock Co Louth at 5pm.

    dscf078219md.th.jpg

That first one I was watching building for an hour, directly east of carlingford peniisula, whilst finishing work...I got home as fast as I could to grab the camera but by the time I did, lower portions of the cloud were obscuring the beautiful anvil. Need to get a better camera phone.

    dscf078710te.th.jpg

This second one is a zoom in on a monster hail cell that by my reckoning was pelting somewhere between Drogheda and Skerries, when I snapped it...once again, this is not the pic it should have been....10 minutes earlier and the whole anvil looked like one of the ships from Independence Day.

Both these pics are cropped and compressed BTW.

Not sure how this formed but once i saw it i grabbed my camera. It only lasted about 30 seconds but clearly rotated until it simply fizzled out and disappeared

    Wow.....

Strange how there is broken cloud everywhere else... It looks like innocuous weather but for the baby tornado of course:p

Was it windy at all at the time? I wonder if anyone can offer more information as to what exactly that was... The cloud itself where it formed is not very dark.
