Hey, I was wondering if someone could help me out. Im looking to upgrade my CPU/mobo/ram.
I cant decide on what to buy and tbh i dont reallyknow much about it. I can spend about 350 quid on it, so if anyone could recommend me a good combo.

first off: here's your best bet komplett.ie

and as for advice - i personally love the asus a7n8x deluxe. best mobo ive ever had and with the latest bios update it supports the new processors (the 333mhz ones or whichever). and it supports dual channel ddr. so if you were to but that, get a decent bit of good name ram - 2700 or 3200 (does the a7n8x support dual 3200 ram?) two sticks of 256mb should be enough. although imo one can never have enough ram. and as for the processor. maybe go for the amd athlon xp 2500+ barton? but whichever catches your fancy. and after all that you should still have a bit left over to put towards a new graphics card!

note: make sure your psu is powerful enough to handle power hungry components. otherwise splash out another €50 and get a q-tec 550w psu....etc

    Motherboard : 117316 EPoX EP-8RDA3+ mainboard Socket A, LAN
    - nForce2SPP/MCP-T/Ultra 400,1394,USB2.0 €117.49

    Ram : 2 x 116556 TwinMOS PC3700 DDR-DIMM 256MB CL2.5
(DDR-PC466MHz) €80.78 to take advantage of Dual DDR.

    CPU : 116590 AMD Athlon XP2500+ 1.833 GHz 333 MHz bus
    - Socket A (Barton) processor, 512kb €102.63 come's with stock cooler

Cooler : 117894 Cooler Master AERO 7+ AMD
    - ASB-V73 til AMD XP3000+ CPU and Higher €37.53

Bit over your limit at €419.30, but worth every penny. Sweet piece of kit.

That fan has a PCI/Floppy slot where you can turn down the speed of the fan. At low -> lowest it's pure silent. You can also overclock that CPU to 3200XP+.

If you dont want to go over your limit, you could go for lower speed ram (keeping with the 2 x 256mb sticks for dual ddr) or even a stock cooler.

The CPU is a Barton, the lowest speed Barton atm. Best keep with that.

If all goes to all, you could down grade the motherboard.

The a7n8x motherboard has had some serious problems with sATA HDD's. There are a few posts here about them and I know another guy who cant get his sATA HDD detected.

PC3700 ram is the fastest ram out at the moment, although PC4000 will be out soon, mobo's that actually support PC4000 wont be out for a while.
