There's been reports in the papers that the United board are about to offer Fergie a new 9 year contract to bring him up to the age of 70!!

IMHO it'll be a great move by United, but it may turn out to be a bit excessive.

Yes, he's one of / if not the greatest manager of all time, but he could make a complete fcuk up [every United supporter remembers the time when the fans wanted him out] & the board will be screwed buying out his contract ... but hopefully that'll never happen!!

United are supposdly going to offer him a rolling 3 year contract.

IE. at the end of every year, tack another year onto the contract so that his contract always has 3 years to run. (The speculation is that Fergie could stay until he's 70 if he wants.)
It's only a way of enusring that Fergie has the job as long as he wants it and that United don't lose him to anyone else.

After what he has achieved at United it would have to be some cock up for the fans to turn on Fergie. I for one could never imagine him making such a mistake. The fans did want him out in the early days but that was because they didnt appreciate the grounwork he was putting in to make the club what it is today.
Thanks god the boards were not short sighted and gave him the time to prove himself at utd.

fergie has the respect of every sane man utd fan. he certainly wont be sacked. man u are lucky to have him and it could only be good for the club if he signs an extension.
