My bro has a problems with his PC

He swapped his internals into a bigger case incl. power supply

All connections are correct. The Ram & Graphic card are seated properly.

WHen he switches on PC, the CPU fan comes on HD starts up -

Thats it. - No beep. No visual from monitor. no flash light from floppy drive..

I told him the mobo could be buggered, any ideas or suggestions?

    then its obviously the motherboard..
When you've screwed around with PC's long enough you'll realise that nothing is obvious...

... but it's not a bad guess. - Swap out the battery on the motherboard (unlikly but happened on 6 series gigabyte MB's).

Disconnect everything from the MB and try sit them back in one by one.

ATX header, processor, graphics card, ram (1 stick). Nothing more until it works.

MSI boards are known to be more prone to shorting on cases, ie if the board is installed incorrectly (doesent have the elevation etc) . I would try taking it out again, and insuring everything is perfect.

If still nothing try it in the old case - should help you to limit the scope of what could be wrong.

make sure there are no redundant metal studs in the new case that are touching the bottom of the board.

Also try it out of the case completely, i.e. on the floor with just graphics card and ram installed and if that works, add it back to the case, and add peripherals one by one.

    good advice

yea a mate of mine has this board (i do too) & we were troubleshooting a prob with it, took us a while to realise that his board wouldnt start if the heatsink wasnt sitting properly on the chip (it would start regardless on mine) so make sure this isnt an issue

Well I am the said brother with the swapped case problems.

col_loki & especially astrofool were bang on with the mobo touching the case. It turned out there was an extra redundant metal screw which was probably shorting the mobo. A quick tweak with pliers & it was sent on it's way with a few choice words after it. Everything put back & working fine (no damage-phew!)
(I checked the heatsink on processor.)

    Thank you all :)
