ti 4200, there's no comparison unless you want to save money and go for the 5200. Performance difference is fairly huge (the 5600 barely keeps up with the ti 4200)

the 5600 barely keeps up with the ti 4200
    really?
got a link to any performance comparisons between the two?
will be upgrading pc next month and was wondering whether to bother upgrading from my geforce4 ti 4200 or leave that till later.

Latest PC Format has a review of GFX cards, and it said that at 128MB 5200 (from MSI) beat a 4800 in benchmarks, and its a DX9 Card.

there was one done a few days ago on a tech site, the only benchmark the 5600 won in was the 3dmark2k3 test, it came about 20% slower in the others.

Considering that the 5200 is a very underclocked version of the 5600 it doesn't bode well for that chip. It's a pity as I have a ti4600 myself, and the only way I can go is to a 9800pro ati or a 5900 nvidia with no middle ground as it were.

I would accept that an over clocked 4200 would be able to keep up with a 5200, I would not agree that it is as powerful as a 5600.

If you buy a decent spec'd 5200, you should be fine, but I would be more inclined to go with a 5600 at least. Also has the added benefit of supporting DX9.

Ti4200 is far better then the fx5200. The fx5200 is the newer version of the geforce 4mx/400/440 series. All it has going for is that its now dx9. If i was buying a card i would go for the ti4200. After that i would go for the ati cards.
I dont think much of the fx5600 either the ti4200 can beat most of them and are a far better price. Like what astrofool said he would have to look at the 9800pro or 5900ultra if he wanted to upgrade his card, but 9700pro would also be a good buy.

So wats the typical speed of a GeForce Ti4200?

Iv a gf3 ti200 and a Radeon 8500le here and both of em out performed the fx5200 I used.

I was seriously disappointed with the performance. Though a friend of mine has nothing but good things to say about his 5200Ultra.

This shows the different comparisons of the different variations of the 5200.

The standard 5200 barely stands up to a mx440.
