Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi,

As said in the subject: What CD would you recommend for somebody who put's Massive Attack's Mezzanine 10 levels above any other CD in the history of music?

I'm going to assume you have all the other Massive albums, are familiar with Tricky and all that Bristol lark.

DJ Muggs' (Cypress Hill/Soul Assasins/et all) Dust album is pretty much in that whole stoney grungy vein. There's some good stuff (like a track with Everlast) and some bad stuff (like when he tries to be Aphex Twin). It's not *brilliant* but still damn listenable- and good for anyone who was dissapointed by the latest MA (well 3-d and Sinéad O'Connor really) album.
It basically struck me as his "I want to be Massive Attack" album.

Another thing I suppose you could do is look at some of their EP's-the Risingson EP has some pretty damn good mixes plus a kick-ass Mad Professor (old dub maestro who done the No Protection album) track. The Blade 2 soundtrack has a Massive collaboration with some rap group who's name eludes me atm.

Other ideas? Check out Horace Andy's back cataloge for some lo-fi reggae skankiness, stuff like Howie B, Coldcut/Ninja tune, Mo Wax...I could go on- which I tend to do.

Yeah, all MA and Bristol stuff. Tricky's first 2 discs (Maxinquaye and Nearly God) also pretty high in my list. Since then ever decreasing quality IMO.

Agree with you about 100th Window. Boring to death.

I'll give a shot to your recommendations.

    Thanks,
    Butch
