    <MADNESS>
    Hi,

We have gone mad, simply nuts!!

For a limited time only (from August 20th till September 20th) we will sell .ie domains (or renew/transfer them) with any of our hosting packages, thats Linux with PHP/Perl/Python or Linux with PHP/Perl/Python/JSP-Servlet or Windows ASP/ASP.NET/PHP/Perl for ONLY 45 euro ex VAT!!!

You may ask why we want to do this, basically people are being ripped off left right and centre for .ie domains, from 127 ex VAT with eircom to other hosts charging 69.99 upwards. We can now sell them with any of our packages for 45 euro ex vat.

    Contact sales@blacknightsolutions.ie OR

    Phone: 059 - 9139897 (office hours)

    -- -- STOP PRESS STOP PRESS -- --

To coincide with this madness we are also offering all CNO registration for only $9 (ie less than €9 depending on rates).

    </MADNESS>

How can you charge so little for .ie domains considering your not even down as a .ie Reseller?

Sposs the list on the IEDR website is for resellers who are the billing-c of more than 50 .ie domains.
If you have 49 .ie domains you would not be listed.

Then how are you able to sell at a resellers price?

We are resellers, but are not listed on the IEDR site as we are currently not the billing-c for more than 50 .ie domains.

There are a lot more .ie resellers out there than those listed on the IEDR site. Maybe the wording on their site might have caused some confusion for you, but let me assure you that our madness does have some sanity deep down :D

    From the IEDR

The IEDR places a high value on its Reseller Programme. While the target for full reseller status is 50 domain names, to be considered for interim reseller status, a minimum of ten domains is required before an application can be considered.

So you see, Blacknight are an 'interim reseller'

    Thanks Steve :D

By the way, if you want to register a .ie without hosting we'll do it for €55 ex-vat (that may not have been clear)

So does this "madness" apply to transfers of .ie domains

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,739 ✭✭✭mneylon

Yes, the €55 price would apply to transfers without hosting, whilst the €45 would be applied to any transfers with a hosting order.

What do you mean by a re-direction?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,472 ✭✭✭Sposs

I mean can you transfer the domain to yourselves then re-direct it away to some other webspace?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,739 ✭✭✭mneylon

Sposs: That would fall under the domain registration without hosting category for us. You would have two options:
    1. Provide alternative name servers on registration (ie. we act solely for registration)

    2. Use our name servers and we can point it at any other IP address

If you needed to do some kind of frame-based redirect (or variation on it) to point to free webspace we could probably sort something out, though this may incur an extra charge depending on what you needed

Hi Blacknight. What were you charging for .ie domains before this special offer? And if (e.g.) I transferred some domains to you I assume they would revert to that standard price when their renewal was due?

    Thanks

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,739 ✭✭✭mneylon

    G

Prior to this offer we were charging €80 ex-VAT for both registrations, renewals and transfers.

We have no intention of reverting to that price in the foreseeable future.

As a lot of you know, the IEDR offers resellers a better rate than the public buying directly from them.

We are firmly committed to passing on as much of that saving as is economically viable.

Ok, so the limited timeframe does not apply to .ie only registrations. Niceone.

We'll keep the price as low as we can, though we cannot guarantee that it will match our current offer (it would make the special offer a little pointless if it did :D )

i wish to purchase a .ie domain, to host myself. as far as i see it is 55 euro ex. VAT for the first year. how much will it cost during the following years?

and do i just get to enter an IP on your site to which the domain will point?

    Marclar

    Thanks for your query.

If you wish to host a site yourself (ie. on your PC or whatever) we would have to host the DNS for you.
We can discuss the exact arrangements with you.
