Of the two discless products that pull music off remote hard drives, the Voyetra Turtle Beach AudioTron is the better deal: It is cheaper and works better than the Motorola simplefi. We're also more comfortable with a jukebox that uses wired Ethernet (with HPNA as an alternative) rather than HomeRF for moving large blocks of audio data without hiccups. The AudioTron includes Mediastation software, which provides music management and playlist creation. Indifferent to compressed audio format, the AudioTron plays both MP3 and WMA files.

You could, if so inclined, have multiple AudioTrons in the house—say, one in the audio rack and another in the bedroom, using a pair of powered speakers. Multiple audio streams aren't enough to bring down a wired Ethernet (or HPNA) network, and buffering takes care of minor dropouts. If you can string Ethernet back to your PC and don't mind leaving it always on, the AudioTron is the best deal for you. Even better, it's the easiest one to set up.

Anyone here have one of these things?
