Anyone know where to get these? I know you can get the TV+Radio capture cards but I don't need the TV functionality. Any ideas?

the software that comes with the radio card usually allows you to capture it straight to the hard disk

I looked extensively for these last year and found none that did a good quality transfer to disk. I was trying to record a particular set of broadcasts from Lyric FM to disc. Maplin used to sell a PC radio card, but the sound quality was awful (it was the D Link USB DSBR 100 iirc, can't find it on the web so perhaps it has been discontinued). Also the recording to disk resulted in the sound file being interspersed with regular 'clicking'.

There are some good sites on recording a radio broadcast straight to disk using basic stero cables from your stereo to your sound card. Again, the quality wasn't great, but it might be worth a try if you're having trouble getting your hands on the PC card you're looking for- I think the cables ended up costing me less than €5 and perhaps with some tweaking you can iron out the quality issues.

Many of the links are about recording tapes/ vinyl etc. onto the PC, but the principles are obviously the same for recording from the radio.

if it is only a limited amount of stuff you want to record (like the joe duffy show) best to tape it to casette (best quality anyway) then tape to PC using line input to *.wav and if necessary from wav to mp3 (unless you have a, line input to *.mp3 codec ??)
