If ye have the cash, don't hesitate getting a Sony (be lost without mine).
If you don't plan on spending all that, going for a panasonic wouldn't be a bad move.

Well for a grand you could get yourself a nice 100Hz model.

Powercity have the following for a grand or less:
    Sony 28" 100HZ WEGA @ €999
    Philips 28" 100HZ @ €799
    Philips 32" 100HZ WIDE @ €999

What part of the country are you in?

Aren't most of the Sony and Panasonic TV's available alot cheaper under different brand names? A friend of mine was telling me Alba TV's are identical to Pany, just different casing.

Some of the larger brands do "lend" their technology to lesser names, but not the current technology, they run a few years behind technology wise and use the most basic stuff, o in effect u could get a Sony r panasonic rwbadged as sumting diff now but itd most likely be 4-5 yr old )r older) technology and be the most basic of specs.

Does anyone have any views on Black Diamond stuff??

I am looking for a cheapo 28" Widescreen TV. I'm not a big telly-user, so I think it would be a bit mad paying a grand for one. Powercity are selling Mitsubishi Blackdiamond 28" widescreens for €379 - I know they arent as good as your Sony's/JVC's - but they would be good enough for me. Any views?

I got a Mit Blk diamond 32" widescreen 3/4 years ago.
Best money ever spent, really good features, not a spot of bother
On from 7 in the morn to 10 at nite, 7 days a week

Because Mist. are such value for money you can "splash out" on a 32, sooooo much better than a 28. Go that extra mile
Beware though, big beast, might need to get sommit to place it on

One negative is I can never really get RGB input going right.

Yes there are better out there - I got a 44" sony for movies - but the Mit really have the point where the law of diminishing returns are kicking in - ie twice the price but only say, 30% better

Go for the Mits, nice remote too

i had a BEKO bought from POWERCITY, its 29 inch screen and
FLAT SCREEN (not widescreen), but it was the only TV with DOLBY..as rest of the tv are NICAM stereo
i bought it 1.5 years ago for 499 euro, i am sure it would have been down since then say 399 euro....
but llok fro doly instead of NICAM
    one more suggestion:;--
Before buying anywhere, make sure the code for sky remote does work as some tv these days does not work with sky remote when putting the code given by manufacturer and in that cae u will have to use 2 remote..
i believ if u cab get JVC then they are the bast otherwise
    i prefer SHARP as well
