Eircom press release on their Flat Rate products

eircom net announces range of Flat Rate Internet products

Issued Wednesday 27th August 2003. eircom net, Ireland’s leading internet service provider, today announced details of a range of new Flat Rate Internet Access products which will be available to customers from 4th September.

JOC: May be new to Eircom but both UTV and EsatBT, have Flat Rate products available since July.

eircom net has developed a suite of products to suit all levels of internet usage, from home users who go online during off peak hours to heavy internet users and small businesses who want access at all times.
JOC: They can not seriously think that their Anytime product would be of interest to small businesses
See Comparison of EsatBT Business Package below with Eircom's

    eircom net’s flat rate product range is the most comprehensive available in the Irish market. The key benefits of flat rate internet access from eircom net are;

Greater control over your internet charges every month

JOC: Also True if you choose another provider

    Better value for internet users

JOC: Not at hours per month and price compare to the other ISP.

Charges are billed on customer’s phone bill

JOC: Yes, we all loved paying high bills to Eircom over the last two years, while Ireland Offline has been lobbying for the introduction of the products.

Technical support and expertise from eircom net, Ireland’s leading ISP

JOC: See 'T & C' Comparison, for difference in cost's to contact the various ISP for support.
Do not forget their is a great communtiy of people on Boards.ie that will be glad to help you out with any of your questions.
Nearly every family (or friend of the family) has a Tech wizard, that can get you sorted if you have trouble connecting.

JOC: See Rates Comparison, of how Eircom products stand up against the other ISP.

eircom net anytime - €29.99 incl. vat per month for 150 hours at anytime of the day or night

JOC: EsatBT: Anytime for business -€45.00 excluding vat per month for 260 hours at anytime of the day or night

Speaking about the new products, Fintan Lawler, Director, eircom net, said "We’re delighted to offer a range of great value Flat Rate products designed to meet the needs of our customers. There’s a product here to suit everyone’s level of internet usage and we anticipate a lot of interest from customers. eircom net anytime will be of particular interest to businesses as it offers the flexibility of 150 hours online 24 hours a day, seven days a week at a fixed cost. Flat Rate 25 and Flat Rate 60 have been developed with the home user in mind, as they tend to go online outside of working hours."

JOC: Again targeting SME here? Are they that clueless as to needs of a business user that they try and promote these products.
EsatBT: Anytime for business -€45.00 excluding vat per month for 260 hours at anytime of the day or night

It's officially official then. Time for me to update the sticky.

I look forward to examining their advertising with a fine tooth comb.

And probably complaining to the ODCA and Comreg when they call it "flat-rate" but let's not start that argument again:)

yes. and if you multilink it you will use your package twice as fast. 10 hours in 5 etc.

all of the flat rate carriers support 64k but only eircom supports 128k at the double usage rate.
