Been thinking of investing in an MP3 jukebox for the car.
    Looking at these jukeboxes !

I especially like the Neo car jukebox.
Anyone got one of these or has any opinions on them.

Would they be difficult to fit for example?

Thay are all the same. We used to sell the M-jukebox few years back and all we got was problems.
The Company then went busted and we were left with the problem.
The main fault in them was interference in the speakers at all times.
You could actually here the engine running when you were playing the Juke Box.
We sorted out adding filters on the output.

I still think the MP3 players are the best thing on the market
or go for an MD Player.

Cheers for that - sounds like they have problems on the player end of things.

It would be nice to have your whole music collection in the car but not if you can't hear it properly.

I know it's a pity but with a MP3 player you can have as much as 8 hours of listening. I think that's enough.

I have heard no bad reports on the DMP3 unit. I was actually thinking of getting one as the radio in my car (mk3 Ibiza Cupra) can not be replaced as the ac/climate control/Trip Computer and loads of other bits are linked to it. All the reviews I have read on this have been positive...

I have the Dension DMP3 in my car and as far as I'm concerned its the best thing I've
ever got for the car. I've got over 1000 CD's on it and its still not even half-full (I've
got a 120Gb drive in it). I would totally reccomend it. Its true about some
interferance from the engine, but you can only hear this at pretty low volumes, I
have mine working off the cigerrate lighter and just two audio cables into the back of
my Sony head-unit, so it was very easy install. For what you get, I think its a very
    cheap unit.

I think I am a little confused about the Dension DMP3 unit.
I thought it was a head unit and installed in place of the radio.

If not then where is it installed?

The DMP3 can be installed as a head unit or installed in the boot as a replacement for your CD Changer and controlled by the Standard HU or a satalite display/controller. If you take a look at http://www.icecavern.com/ they have an install guide as do http://www.ibizamania.net/ this gives you an idea of the remote way of installing this unit.

I have noticed that more and more new cars are coming with head units that can not really be replaced due to being moulded into the dash or due to controlling other other functions in the car. As a result there seems to be more after market units that are now allowing for this by just having a tiny remote unit that goes somewhere up front and the main unit can be hidden in the boot or else where. Alpine do something similar..

Ya its a bit sweet alright and that touch screen was not that expensive considering it can do something like 1600-1200 resolutions if I remember rightly. He is running http://www.mediaengine.org for the cool looking interface, I am sure this could be handy for other applications...

Thanks Kayos - that explains things.

yeah thats what im talking about. Mine wont be nearly as professional as that tho. I found plans on the net a few years ago to build a nice enough system but never did anything bout it cos i got a good headunit and cd changer for free from a mate. Had to change cars tho and my new van has only a crappy blaupunkt cassette head unit.

Im only going to use a small three or four line LCD panel to display song information from winamp and a small keypad for choosing songs and controlling volume etc. I'll be using win95 to boot direclty into a winamp shell. I cant find the place i bought the plans on the net but when i do i'll post a link here.
