Other than the 3.5Ghz band Licencing Round, Comreg have also had consultations going on the 1.8Ghz band (Consultation and Licencing) and the 2.5/2.6Ghz band (Consultation) since earlier this year. No licence will be issued in the 1.8Ghz band because of the clear line that Comreg intend to draw between Nomadic and Mobile in this band. See Here .

Meteor had approached Comreg about a 1EV-DO service running at 384k off their towers. It was 'too mobile' for Comreg and it is a subset of the US 3G standard as well. Ouchski. I see their point .

If Meteor come up with something 'less mobile' they are welcome in Comreg HQ anytime. Remember that only mobile licencees may apply for this spectrum and that only Meteor did apply so if you have an idea for a Wireless BB service in the 1.8Ghz band...........please tell Meteor yourself once you know it is not 1EV-DO.

In the other band, Comreg resisted an overwhelming temptation to allocate spectrum for 3G when it is not needed. They will revisit the matter in early 2005. Thank feck for that.

The conclusions are over on the Comreg site. In a long winded way .....no change really.
