    hi,

    Funny thing happening on a XP system with both ms word & excel

    If you open either word or excel & wait a short period of time (10 sec's), menus will pull down on their own or open a file or set-ups.

    Mouse is ok & keyboard appears ok.

    I resarted the pc & it hasn't happened since.

    Any ideas?

    Pretty odd, could just be a macro somebody added. Check microsofts office update center, perhaps a patch will fix it (http://office.microsoft.com).

    About Macro viruses;

    QUOTE]Upon opening the document, Word checks it for AutoOpen macro presence. If there is such a macro, Word executes that macro (if it has not been disabled by DisableAutoMacros). Upon file closing, Word executes the AutoClose macro.[/QUOTE]

    It's important (seemingly) to update OS with latest SP's first, Then MS Office.
    In the "run" box Type "winver" to see latest sp installed.

    I suppose it would be simplest to run windows update on computer.[

    windows update won't patch office... you've to run office update :)
