The whole Pumping Iron film was set up anyway.

They tried to create a certain image and controversy around the new sport of bodybuilding with certain lines and quotes and juxtaposing golden boy Arnie with Lou ferrigno toiling away in some basement.

It was not a documentary and many lines were scripted.
