As Eircom Net support are virtually impossible to contact without paying exhorbitant call charges, I am posting to see if anyone else has had this problem.

On ISDN (single channel, 64Kbps) dialup from Christchurch (Lord Edward St, 01-418xxxx) area, ISDN connects but PPP fails to establish.

This is for both 1891150150 (subscription) and 1892150150 (free).

Occasionally (maybe 1 in 10 times), PPP establishes as normal. It is NOT a Username/Password problem, LCP does not get that far.

From other areas of Dublin, there is no problem and 100% connection with same hardware & configuration.

Also ISDN dialup to ESAT 1890 number is fine.

This has been happening for around a week now. Previously worked fine.

    ISDN Line looks OK locally.

    Anyone know anything?

Could the clid be blocked at eircomnet's end-is this your own apt you are dialling from?

    Very unlikely.
The ISDN call goes through and connects, then there is no response from PPP/LCP.

Actually exactly the same symptoms as if ISDN call ends up terminated on Analogue modem, voice line etc.

Suspicion: Either problem with Eircom ISDN (inter-exchange) or with Eircom Net (terminating equipment, access servers).
