Make sure you have FSAA disabled for your GF4MX, it'll kill performance. I use 800x600 and have all the visual goo toggles disabled to keep things nice and smooth.

Also depends on whether your playing or hosting. Lots of bots kill performance regardless of your pc's spec, I have a 9800 pro and still keep numbers down if im hosting a game. I upgraded my ram from 256 to 512 shortly after i got battlefield and found that really helped too! If its a DC only issue im pretty lost.
