As the question arises over & over again over where to go to get pierced, some of the same comments are being repeated, so just to reiterate strongly on this matter & bring together any experiences people have had, good & bad.....

The overwhelming opinion seems to be that of all the places to get pierced in Dublin, Metalmorphosis is by far away the one that we all have the least confidence in. On more than one occassion they've been described as butchers, & lets be honest, that's not a descrption you want to hear about someone who's gonna start sticking big needles in ya!

So by all accounts, if ya give a toss about the opinions of a bunch of freaks who enjoy being perforated, inked & scarred & then talking about it online ;) , then take our advice & avoid this place at all costs.....

I went in to get a surface piercing in my arm roughly a year ago, the guy doing it said they were rare but seemed to know what he was talking about.
He started by spraying a topical anastetic, then to my amazement he just pinched some skin and shoved the needle thru! He then placed a plastic bar in and screwed up the balls on the end and said it should be permanent because the plastic will bend to suit the piercing.

It lasted just about 2 weeks before I got it checked by someone else who told me it would scar badly if I left it in longer.

    I have since avoided Metalmorphosis.

Wow. I don't have a piercing on my arm but my nape piercing took around 30 mins to do over all, from marking to massaging the skin to make it easier to piercer, and you certainly shouldn't use teflon to heal the piercing, SSS or ti is the only material i'd ever heal a piercing with.

I'm thinkin' i'll make this thread a sticky or make a sticky of all the super dodgy establishments in Ireland. MM will be top of the list :)

I think that's a great idea, it's why I started the thread, if people come here for advice, I think that something like this should be one of the first things they see! Not to put people off, but just to make them aware that just because it looks well, or is in a certain location, doesn't mean that it's reputable!

God! I went into metalmorphosis last saturday, I was after flared tunnels for my ears and they were sellin 2 for 35 blips, which seemed like a good deal. While waitin in queue, there seemed to be this quite angry girl, why was she angry, cause she got her tongue pierced twice there (2 bars going down the centre)and one was crooked on the top. If this wasnt bad enough, the woman at the counter said 'i dont see why your complainin, they arent crooked on the bottom'. If only my story stopped there, I told em I wanted 2 flared tunnels at 5mm, which they told me didnt exist (which it does) but they offered me 2 at 6mm and free stretching to a 6. This seemed okay to me, how can someone f*ck up a stretching. The left ear turned out okay, the right ear (which was healed) was covered in puss and blood, and has been extremely painful since she put in the flared tunnel, and ive had to put back in my 5's which snakebite gave me ( and has since gotten extremely better).

Dragon ninja - is your name Jeff by any chance?
A mate of mine also had a blow out when MM stretched his ears.
I went to get tunnels off them before....asked for a 4ga....he kept showing me 4mm and saying 4mm and 4ga are THE SAME. (big difference!)

Take my advice & give it to someone you don't like for a birthday present...your skin's too precious, even if it *is* free, don't take the risk...

i got my bottom lip pierced in there about a year ago, the piercing worked out fine but I must say the staff are arrogant ****s

I said this on another thread. My friend got her tongue pierced there and she thought the piercer was great! She hasn't had any problems but did say that some members of staff were pretty unfriendly.
Maybe I could get some jewellery with the voucher instead of a piercing...can I do that?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 177 ✭✭dragon_ninja82

Im sure you can get jewellery off em with the voucher, just be careful, one girl there told me last week there were no such thing as 5mm flared tunnels, the girl I asked today told me they had lots of em. Go figure.

Yeah, I think I'll stick with the jewellery idea. I'll get a funky coloured ring for my lip or something. I hope whoever works there knows what a 9mm x 1.2 mm is!

If you are after cool jewellery go to www.wildcat.co.uk They have a fantastic selection, and you get get their massage brochure posted out to you for free :)

I have a Wildcat catalogue actually and their stuff is amazing but I can't use the Metalmorphosis voucher there!
I just wanna use the voucher coz it was a birthday prezzie from my best mate and I don't wanna give it to someone else or waste it, ya know?

Got my nose Peirced there once. Bloody thing got infected, and was pretty ****ing unsightly for a while afterwards. Thankfully I was stubborn enough to keep it in there, and it healed up nicely. Was great after that, I used to ****ing love it, but it got ripped out not long afterwards.

I've been planning on getting it redone now for over a year.
    Soon, hopefully.

would you happen to be talking about that butch country girl who looks like she doesn't work there?? she annoys me ; i went in to ask about ear stretching before i got it done because i was just checking out places and she was basically being really bitchy as if she had some attitude thing that i didn't know how it was done. she was like "YEAH, WELL, ya see, its just like a large piercing that is stretched with this piece of jewelery for 10 euro. we could do it now if you want"
and when i let her know i didnt have the money on me and that i was just enquiring she got even bitchier. before that i thought that they were really good. i was also shocked at the size of the piercing room, and the attitude of the piercer...

    i dunno. its your skin!

I don't know what to say!

I guess if you've had bad experiences with them, I can't contest that.

But I've been going to the South African piercer, Sean, at MM for years. He's pierced me several times and each time its been just perfect, with beautfiul healing. I had a problem once with an eyebrow ring, but it was because I was waitressing and had to take it out in the restaurant and put it back after work several nights a week. That wrecked it.

Yikes! I think he, at least, is brilliant, and I really trust him. I'm sorry other people haven't had the same experience.

Well this is the first positive comment about MM i've EVER heard!
I've heard a lot of complaints about Sean actually. I was in there last year with my friend who was buying tunnels for his ears. Yer man forced these too big tunnels in my mates ears. Mate could tell something was amiss, but next morning woke up to find his pillow covered in blood, because this piercer had forced jewellery in that was far too big a jump in sizes.

What piercings did this guy do for you?

i haven't been there but ive been told to avoid it, i usually wait til the tattoo expo comes to midleton every year to get my odder pierceings done (surface, hand webbings, etc) cos no one here that i trust does them...the ones that do are also 'butchers'...and ive been dying for a new surface for the last couple of months and iv been talking about going up to dub to get it done, cos i have a sis up there too, and my piercer told me not to go there.....if im getting pierced by any one other that the girl who usually pierces me its by snake bite or paddy o'd!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 120 ✭✭sarahg_angel69

you know the way the rooms in MM are all mirrored...well my mate went into there to get his tongue done and they told him..along these lines...u have to watch me put the needle through your tongue or else your body will reject the piercing and you wont be able to look at it again!!! i mean WTF i got mine in snakebite and he told me to turn away and not to look at the needle at all!! thank god i didnt cause my mate said it was huge! my mate also said that his tongue piercing hurt like hell when he got it done there......snakebite..painless!!!!

Yeah that was the same with me, was left feeling really tender and all mad crap was oozing out of my ear . MMMM.

That's the only thing i've gotten done there and i would never go back based on that one experience. I got bigger tunnells put in in another place and all the guy taled about was the dangers of forcing one thats too big in etc etc...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 120 ✭✭sarahg_angel69

that the guy with all the tatoos and balls under his skin........he scares me!! ha! not because of all the tats or piercings or anything..just doesnt make u feel "safe"!! my mate got her tongue done there..ans she bled..and tasted it and he goes "**** i hit a vein" she nearly had a heart attack before he said..ah im only messing!! NOT COOL!! and they numb ur tongue there dont they?!

I know him quite well. And i have to say he's one of the piercers on the scene who knows the most but he's got a problem of always trying to get a reaction out of people. see the above i hit a vein post. I've got to reccomend him if you want any tricky or complicated piercings.

I've had 10 piercings done there and 2 fell out. I've started to go to celestial ring and snakebite. Much better by far.
