Ok I had a meeting with the Gaelcon people who are quite interested in having us all back again this year.

This time we will be more prepared (and less chaotic).
Date: last weekend in October (yes, the Bank Holiday Weekend.)

It will run pretty much along the same lines except that this year we are in Croke Park.
Yup! Not exactly on the grass, but rather in the brand new convention centre they have there.

Another difference is that we have twice, yes TWICE, the space this year and they have previously run 80 computers in there so power is not a problem.

We will have more time on saturday (staying open until 11pm anyway) but less time on Monday (it has to look like we were never there at 5pm.)

I expect a similar price to last year though possibly a less complex booking format.

More then just quake1/2/3 will happen too.
I can imagine an SC league and perhaps some console gaming too. (Dream Cast is out in september)

The Irish Q3 Team will be decided there too as its the best shot we have at a fair competition.

More on all of this as it unfolds but I thought that since I have confirmed it with the organisers of the convention I can now let you all know about it.

As for help. GOD YESSSS is the answer. Everyone has this idea that last year I did it all alone. Thats VERY far from the truth.

I will need even more help this year.
Machines, Servers, networking, OS's league admins and other stuff all has to be covered.

this year the only major change I can think of this year for the general punter is that you will HAVE to have your own network card.
Ray may or may not sell some beforehand or during (I havent even asked the man if he will be there!) but however you sort it, you have to sort it out yerselves before you will be connected to the lan. It's just too much pain to set them up on the day etc.

They are only about 10-15 quid for a 10 meg card anyway.

Things like Starcraft which can be set up on their own are individuals responsiblility but anything that causes the network to drastically lag will be rulled out (currently that would include Q3A but I expect that fixed before end of Oct!)
