    Hey guys. This morning I broke one of my teeth andI have an appointment for the dentist on tuesday morning. Just as a matter of curiosity, does the dentist make you take out your oral piercings?

    I have my lip pierced and my dentist didn't make me take it out. He didn't even comment on it! I don't know about tongue piercings though. I guess if it's in the way he might ask you to take it out. Otherwise I can't see a reason.
    But sure you'll find out on Tuesday!

    You might have to, but it would`nt be that difficult to take out and it would`nt be for long.

    well ive my lip pierced and my tongue pierced twice and it was never a problem with my dentist

    I know this has nothing to do with the thread, but I've wanted to get my tongue pierced a second time for ages, but didn't know anyone with it done to see about compications etc...
    Was there any problems or drawbacks??

    You should probably start another thread, but a good place to look is bmezine.com, particularly the experiences and risks sections.

    As for piercings, the only time they'd make you take it out is if you're having an x-ray. I broke my tooth a few months back and it's not biggie, can't see oral piercings getting in the way at all. You might get a lecture if your dentist is an old dude, though :)
