Poetic justice if i ever saw it
    deserved to miss that peno

horse face made sure viera got sent off and the first booking was a joke!!

rvn was like 3 feet away from viera and should be given a oscar for his "shock" on his face

    what a **** he is

and whats this talk about points being deducted for the scenes after the full time whistle.
utd missed a peno against a 10 man team in the last min of the game of course they were happy
ok lauren pushed him so they going to deduct arsenal points !!what a joke!!

for those of ye that are shocked and disgusted of arsenal this is football at the highest level where that peno miss could determine who wins the league
if ye dont like it and it gets too much for ye watch cricket

oh by the way was i the only person that saw a utd player hit a arsenal player in the face after the viera sending off i think it was fortune but he def went for him

    thats my rant

boring match though plenty of passion

arsenal can't control themselves regardless if he didn't touch him or not

in the last three arsenal v. man u matches 3 arsenal have been sent off and imo there should of been 4 becos of viera in the community shield.

what happened after the match was unacceptable and i hope arsenal get deducted points and a big fine for it.

don't turn around and say well your bias well how can a ABU be bias?

True, true. But fortunately for them they are ridiculously rich and will never have to worry about such things. We can only bask in our collective jealously.

In agreement with Janks first post, I hate him too. Mostly because he's quite good and plays for united - I hate that combination.

I would imagine the talk of points being deducted would be because that happened previously when there was a fracas after an arsenal manu match.

Arsenal are right to celebrate the result, they got out of jail but the ganging up on rvn could get them in a fair bit of hot water. On the plus side I think it will most likely spur Arsenal on for the next few games at least.

Potentially Viera could have been off after receiving his first yellow - he was giving a fair bit of stick to the ref.

The funniest thing (imo) was the manu fans singing "same old arsenal, always cheating" - I'm not sure they grasped the irony of what they were singing though.

As for the result - yeah, i agree with p.pete. Better result for the arse than united. it should boost arsenals confidence a fair bit to have drawn (and to not have conceded a goal) at Old Trafford. How costly a booster it will turn out to be regarding disciplinary hearings etc remains to be seen.

Very true. I think something big has to happen at the disciplinary hearings because Arsenal have gone beyond a joke as regards discipline.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,450 ✭✭✭AngelofFire

Keown dragged him down in the area. Therefore he deserved the peno. He was very unlucky not to score it imo. Im no united fan but i think the arsenal players were more in the wrong than him. See the way the scumbags ganged up on him at the end of the match.

Fair play to him for keeping his cool. if i was in his position i would of punched the face off the arsenal players

    of course they were happy

They were so happy they had to rub it into a player who realised he just cost his team 3 points. yer great sportmanship there. Im gonna look again at the tackle cos i did see ruuds foot on vieras back i didnt see him kick out. Ill reserve judgement till after i seeen it again and not so angry :p

Is this the red card thing or the ganging up after the match, which one are you refering too?

It was a very harsh red card (hopefully it will be revoked, I'm sure the ref will be looking at a video) although like I said already he was possibly a little lucky to still be on the pitch at that stage.

In terms of the scenes at the end it was mostly celebration, very in your face and there was one or two pushes but I didn't see anything particularly violent. There's lots that I didn't see (not in an Arsene kind of way:D) so it should be interesting to see what develops.

I think RVN comes out of the whole thing fairly clean, he jumped back from Viera but did stay on his feet. I have no idea why his knee was in Vieras shoulders though. Great to see him missing all those penalties - he's not even diving for them any more, notice that it was Forlan that won the penno.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 559 ✭✭✭jongore

Typical behaviour from the Arse and their fans, they look to blame anyone but themselves for their own problems.

    1) Viera got a second yellow card for intent and if someone tried to kick me in the b@lls I'd jump back too.

    2) Keown, Lauren and Parlour all pushed/struck VanNist after the peno miss, how is this his fault?

    3) As usual Arsne again failed to critisise his players while trying to lay the blame at Rudds feet, he should fix his own house before critising others.

I'm sure we're going to hear more from Arse about how everyone is agianst them, how the media, the FA, the Referess, etc all have it in for them.

52 red cards and counting now, isn't it about time Arse fixed this problem?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,511 ✭✭✭Shred

I honestly don't think there was any intent with Viera's kick - it was more of a "get away from me you idiot" gesture after Van Nist had performed a little tap dance on his back, I know I wouldn't be too pleased:) If you look at the incident Viera's leg never fully extended, there was always a bend in his knee and there was about two feet of air between him and Van Nist even when his leg was extended.

Having said all that it was still a stupid thing for Viera to do and the ref was in an awkward position.

Good to see Van Nist getting some come uppance for his play acting for once though and I was glad to hear Wenger being honest about it in the interview afetrwards.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 211 ✭✭marct

I would love to argue against the sending off and would do if Vieira hadnt already had a first yellow card. But the kick out at RVN deserved a yellow. What I do wonder about is how Fortune was still on the pitch having run in as the pen was given and knocked Lehmann over..

Of course there was intent. He wouldn't have kicked out otherwise. Vieira deserved to be sent off, he had just got a yellow card a few minutes prior to that and he failed to calm down after it. The second was definately a yellow card offence. It would have been harsh if it was a straight red, IMO. As for van Nistelrooy, he was looking at the ball the whole time when he was going for the ball. It was a free kick offence but not a yellow card offence. There was very little he could do once he was up in the air challenging for the ball.

I don't know how you can call Arsene Whinger honest. I would like to know how van Nistelrooy can be "provocative" as Wenger puts it. Yes he goes down easily, but what about Pires and Ashley Cole? He should speak for his own team and stop bantering on about United.

points deducted for what again now
for ganging up on Horse face!!!boo hoo they probably stole his lunch money too!!
get a grip its a mans game. remember last season villa v birmingham!! and then compare the two matchs then u realise how small those incidents last night were

as i said before if u dont like a little push on the back of horseface then watch another game and stop whinging

im not defending the actions of viera he did lash out (with all 3 feet between his foot and RVN) but RVN made it out that he made contact and thats cheating everybody knows his history of playacting and fooling the referre

as for the peno forlan was on the ground before the ball came inot the box he went down far too easily for my liking

pornaster im not 12 and what makes u think that i am??
nice suit by the way did ur brother Horse face buy it for you??

I do agree that Viera was rightly carded for being stupid, but I don't think he was really making an effort to kick Van Nist. Wenger is indeed a moaner but I was glad to hear someone actually come out and say what they wre thinking about a players actions instead of pussy footing around the question, thats all.

What match was Angle Fire watching ?
It was Forlan who crater face brought down in the box not RVN !!

With regard to sportsmanship I noticed it was Keane who tried to calm Viera down ! and lead him away from the whole scene.

Fortune was trying to get the ball from the arse goalkeeper not trying to knock him over . . try taking the arse coloured glasses off !!

RVN had a reputation for playacting but then every team has one of them :
Pires for arsenal: Smicer for liverpool: Savage for leicter . . . but I think RVN was warned by Fergie to give it up which he seems to have done.

I thought Pires' dive last week should win him an Oscar. Portsmouth played them off the park and were robbed by the thugs.

    My tuppence worth.

Keane the peacemaker. Just shows how things have changed with him. A few years ago he would have been walking with Viera.

A little push in the back? What about the flying elbow drop by Keown? The Rock would be proud of that one.

As for Forlan. Isn't it a coincidence that Keown also fell down on top of him with his arm on Forlan's back?

Yeah its a lovely suit. You sound about 12 and no I don't have any horses near my house.

    Jank !

You keep harping on about he united player hitting someone what about RUUD getting punched in the stomach ?

At the end of the day it's only a game no one deserved to be in the middle of all that crap.

What I saw at the end was the more level headed Arsenal players walking off the pitch side by side with a manu player talking and smiling !! Thats the way it should be. The game ends when the ref blows the whistle. Normality should prevail at that stage.

Anyway Roy the merciful sounds better . . we don't want to get carried away now . . do we ?

What he was trying to do is irrelevant in the face of what he did in that he knocked Lehmann over while trying to retrieve the ball for the pen but this seems to have been magically forgotten...It was a blatant red card!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,511 ✭✭✭Shred

What about the flying elbow drop by Keown

Ah come on man, that's pure exageration - Keown was celebrating after the whislte had went with his arms in the air and the inside of his forearm made contact with Van Nistelyrooy. I'm not making excuses for Keown by the way, I think he's a scum bag anyway...

Now whether he meant it or not is an other thing...LMAO all the same:D

Vieria deserved to get sent off , it was his second yellow and not a straight red after all. He lash out with his foot a deffo no no in any game, he doesn't need to connect to get sent off as the intent was there and thats enough.

As for RVN A cheater at least it didnt come up with Pires Bull**** that "he heard a noise"???? WTF.

All that pushing he got yesterday goes to show you that RVN is well able to stay on his feet when he wants to and no penalty award is likely:D(although for some strange reason he hasn't seemed to keen to win penalties lately...)

I've a few questions about RVN acting or whatever.

Did he go down holding his leg?
    Did he feign injury?
Did RVN make Vieira throw his leg out?
Is it RVN's fault that Vieira can't keep his discipline.

As far a I could see he was looking away, looked back saw Vieira going to kick he. The fact that he moved his leg at all was a reflex action. As soon as he saw it wasn't going anywhere near him he stopped an just stood there.

I think Vieira is a stupid c**t for throwing his leg out. What a tosser. He could have cost his team the game.

The scenes after the game were disgraceful.
If RVN had scored and walloped Keown in the back of the head or pushed someone else in the back, or hit someone in the stomach what would the Arse fans be saying then?
I bet it wouldn't be "It's a mans game...." etc.

How many times did he dive yesterday? He was WALKING away from the Arsenal players when they started pushing him and elbowing him. He was not RUNNING where there is a higher risk of him being knocked off balance.

Some people persist in dwelling on the past instead of looking at the present. Man U fans have always accepted that in the past RVN went down too easily. Who do you think Fergie was talking about in yesterdays papers when he said there was a player at Man u who was diving too much and he had taken Steps to stop it? RVN Fouled Viera Yesterday and got booked for it, it was no different to many foul we see week in week out. Viera Lifted his foot in what appeared to be an attemp to kick RVN, we have all seen players get straight reds for that so he at least deserved his second yellow. I have seen 3 different ex arsenal players interviewed about yesterdays events after the match and without exception they have said RVN was not cheating and that the arsenal antics were indefensible. That said I hope Arsenal are not deducted point becaus imo the league should be decided on the pitch and not in FA offices.
