Ok looks its this simple.

Every night from now on, gather in #quake.ie at 10pm for a war.

Proceed to the servers and play pickup/clan wars.

EVERY NIGHT.
7 days a week.
10PM.
#Quake.ie.
STARTING TOMORROW (MONDAY).

Got it? Good, now shag off and leave the CA players alone.

And I swear if not enough war players arrive to play I will never listen to another braindead war-monkey EVER again asking for help setting stuff up. Particularly after the Battlegrounds fiasco.

Aye, the battlegrounds example is perfect.

The second week and I was the only person from leShaft to turn up (and me a CA player!). MP went to a lot of trouble for that and look what happened. At least CA is spontaneous.

BTW: I'll be there for the war if there's a non-clan one on.

PS. what the hell ever happened DD? They sorta died or something....

Problem with 4v4s here is that if the teams are uneven it's too hard for newbies or people coming from CA and it's not challenging enough for more experienced players. At the moment tomb, me, koopa, blade, ol, kaile and a few others play non-whinging UK players at night. If possible it's best to have everyone playing roughly at the same experience or skill level, then they will enjoy it more and will improve if they want to.

yeah.. wars arent fun if youre consistently stuck on the losing side all the time

id set up a duel competition or something, but the player base for it would just be
about 2 people.. and half of them wouldnt turn up.

its always been like this.. i remember CT's IQCL matches, most of the time we were lucky if 2 CT members actually turned up for a match.

the thing is, its just to hard to arrange wars and expect everyone to turn up, you need a prize or something to motivate people (winner gets huge amounts of porn from blade)

OK. Let me get this straight.

Clan Arena is crap , teaches you no worthwhile skills whatsoever and should be taken off the servers to make way for a war server that won't be used because

1. No newbies allowed 'cos they're not worth playing against

2. Ca players being inferior don't have the skills to play

basically, the rest of us are too talentless to be bothered teaching if (and it is a big if) any of the more experienced players bother turning up... doesn't say much for the Irish Quake scene , does it? I thought we wanted it to expand, or was that just that we wanted loads of unused server space for foreign players to practise against the Irish up-and-comings?

Let's just set up a war for tonight and see what happens. I don't mind being on a perpetually losing side as long as I get some practise and get better. Sure, if no-one turns up, I can always go and join in the CA game....

was that acidic enough to start an argument? go on, we can get another long thread going and I'll avoid doing work...

Now, can anyone tell me why my proxy won't stay open at the same time as quakeworld (run through DOS).

DD does indeed live, and when the time comes, will will return to kick ass.

DD was the classic example of a bunch of average to good players, who could make a fair show against anyone, simply cos we played for the enjoyment of it.

Now, if we can just nick Slosh back from that Clan Girlie.....

I think johnoo and myself took the best players from it to set up JAP, then it fell apart when the college year ended and all our players went home.
