Cianan2: in 1998, they WERE mega desperate! They were still losing the monday night wars with WCW :)

Here are some examples on how desperate they were between 1996 and 1998

They repackaged Al Snow to be a "new rocker" under the name of Leif Cassidy, a pisstake of Leif Garrett and David Cassidy. The problem there was it's fan base were teenagers, and hadn't a damn clue who those two were! (two rockabilly vocalists in the 70's)

They signed untested olympian Mark Henry to a 10 year deal (a move we're still suffering with!).

They put a title on Sid to try and prove to Michaels that he couldn't carry the promotion being the "little guy", thankfully they gave it back to him three months later!

In a crass attempt to get the fans attention to WWF programming, they announced the return of Razor Ramon and Diesel, and as a result we got Glenn Jacobs and Rick Bogner!

They reformed the Hart foundation, which wasn't particularly a bad move, but Pillman was a shadow of his former self by that point and Neidhart never got over. Bulldog wasn't exactly motivated due to family problems around that period of time.

They had Pillman wear a dress after losing to Golddust.
They had Golddust run around in S&M gear after losing to Piper.

Can you see where I'm coming from? ;)

what you need is a delicate balence of both, people like Eddie and Cena who do the mike well and wrestle well, not the rock who cant wrestle or brock who cant talk

Well according to Duane Johnson himself, he won't be back anytime soon as his back is starting to give him trouble.

What Brock needs is a valet. He needs Heyman or someone like him. He drew bigtime with him.

The best thing to do is enjoy the few months of good television while HHH is gone and stop watching when he leaves, it'll suck again when he comes back.
