    Hey guys,
    hopefully someone can help me. i ned to know on average, how much disk space does a 5 min video take up? i.e. im doing my final year programming project and setting up a site on a server in my college that will have interactive lessons on it and i need to wite down how much space some vid willl take up in the project proposal.

    I would say anywhere from 5-20 megabytes depending on the quality

    the PAL DV standard of 720x576 video with 5:1 compression requires 3.6 MB/sec, which is 4.63 minues per GB.

    so 5 minutes of PAL video would require 1080 MB.

    you can greatly reduce the file sizes by then compressing the video files into divx format, with a minimal loss in quality.
