Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

You're being outwitted on this thread and now you are trying to add some credibility to your weak arguments. Mentioning a cup that nobody gives a sh*t about doesn't help either. A GC would be more useful that that thing !!!!

Maybe I don't care what you think
Maybe you dont or maybe you just cant link to any positive post of yours regarding Utd and you are really an ABU of the most annoying kind, One that denies it.. Either way I dont really care but I do agree with the teletubby , Rasta , pornapster and I would imagine qiute a few others.

And all this just because he pointed out that

on uefa-co-efficients, most Irish national league sides that have won the league are ranked higher than stuttgart

Which is a valid point on this thread.

And all this just because he pointed out that

Sorry fish but you assumption is wrong. I didnt reply to that comment or indeed to a few others he has directed at me in this thread after that . But for him to claim he actually likes man U after some of his comments lately not only in this thread to my mind is obviously untrue and that is the reason I replied this time.

I have told him a few times that I consider him to hold very biased anti Utd opinions and so I have no interest in conversing with him so why does he continue to address me directly in his posts?

I must have missed the bit where he addressed you personally in that post.

You did reply to it didn't you.. In that case you addressed him, initiated a conversation as it were even though

The team I support doesn't get slagged to often mainly because its more a subject of pity. Seeing as they aren't in the same division anymore (I have been supporting them since 1980, they were good then, honest) I don't think any of the current Man Utd team have ever scored against the team I support.

I don't remembe rmentioning a cup. I was talking about uefa co-efficients, which are used to seed teams in the CL. The likes of Shelborne and Shamrock Rovers would be seeded higher than stuttgart, I pointed this out more for the amazement of the inadequacies of the uefa ranking system than anything else.

tinky, sykeirl supports a 1st division team so there is not really an issue of manu scoring goals against them. His team rarely gets jeered, or even considered for discussion.

Muppet, it may not be posted on boards but I know for a fact sykeirl prefers manu to pool based purely on the way they generally play football (arsenal better again). That's the fairest way to look at it really...

Mneh, I don't exactly shower liverpool with platitudes either (or arsenal...I can't stand Ashley Coe)... but I don't see any Liverpool fans accusing me of having it in for their team.

Some people just have a seige mentality I guess.

Don't flatter yourself, I wasn't even thinking of you when I posted in this thread.

The Utd fans I was referring to are the ones I actually know and see on a day to day basis and have to listen to over coffee.

I'd be happy if people were to slag off my team, it would mean I'd get to talk about them to someone who is at least vaugely interested (Ping and dappergent never seem to want to talk much). The big problem is, noone really knows much about them barring the week to week results. But fire away if you like :)

When it comes to the teams in the premiership, I admire them on style of play and achievements with the poor resources available (which is why I have softs spots for teams like southampton)

Would love to be capable of slagging forest but the biggest slag is not being big enough to get slagged. That's the positive side for me about liverpool being constantly slagged.

As for manu's CL performance, long may it continue. Folan is a genius and AF should get a spotters badge for finding him:D

Mneh, leave Liverpool with a 20 million Stg deficit and see how well they do :) (thats always gonna be my comeback). Anyway, were still laughing at Liverpool for buying Nigel Clough from us, but I digress.

Course, I don't see anyone owning up to their mistaken accusation on the thread.... but I guess it would be too much to expect.

I think even fergie knows that Forlan is useless. Think back to the excitment and expectation that bringing Ole or Sherringham off the bench generated when Utd were losing.

No compare that to the reaction of Forlan coming on against Stuttgart......

Also, I have to hold my hand up about saying Liverpool had poor strength in depth in their squad this year. As it turns out I think Utd and definitely Arsenal (and if rumours are to be believed, Newcastle may soon fall into this catagory) are beginning to look like they need a few more bench huggers (strangely enough not chelsea).

The Second quote above explains perfectly the reason for your initial post. Rasta saw it I saw it . . That comment demonstrates the real purpose of your post and truly impartial posters will see through the lie that the post was about the ranking system. .

Now for the last time I have no interest in talking to someone who holds such biased anti united opinions as you do sykeirl as it will only lead to pages of flame threads as we have seen in the recent past .

Well those posts were really nothing to do with football, I was trying to keep things lighthearted and do the whole "no hard feeling despite all the heated football talk", but obviously it was a bit Niall Quinn-esque as an olive branch.

As for the ranking post. Nope, I was just pre-empting the reaction before it happened, I do think its ludicrous that stuttgart are ranked below National League teams, but as an after thought I figured there would be a siege mentality and threw that in as an offhand remark.

I'm not really bothered much about the Premiership bitch fights, I just call it how I see it. I'm far more concerned that a Mick McCarthy managed team are currently ahead of Forest in the 1st Division. But as Kavanagh said, gods make their own importance.

Anyway, believe what you want to believe. If it makes you feel warm and snug :)

What do you think will reach the next round in the ManU group- do you think Stuttgart will be able to come far, or did ManU just have a bad day?

Hehe... I hoped noone would remember that, just realised after I posted, but christ you have some memory for football matches (looking at your other posts).

Yeah, we have a pretty crap record against Utd. we lost 7/10 I think,

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,267 ✭✭✭p.pete

in slagging forest, not only is micks team ahead, they have scored more and conceeded less goals also:D.

Utopio, sorry but I think it was just a bad day at the office for manu. The 2 I would pick would be Rangers and manu but stuttgart did seem quite good by their own merit - so they may squeeze rangers out.

Yeah, I'd be happy forest could pick a bit of liverpools defensiveness up for the season (although they may need it all tomorrow afternoon).

I would imagine Utd will comfortably win the group and that Rangers and Stuttgart will go to the wire for 2nd spot.

I feel that I have to try to defend Sykierl here. I have had a few tussles on here in relation to his view of the Liverpool squad and found what he had to say to be fair and level headed. On the other hand Muppet is rabidly anti- Liverpool and Arsenal. So its a bit rich Muppet trying to post from the moral highground of the 'impartial' poster IMHO...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,267 ✭✭✭p.pete

In defence of Muppet I think he puts a lot of work into making sure that he is in a position of moral high ground.

He's more in touch with reality then some of the manu supporters, though I suspect that this is more a being able to mask his imaturity with age as opposed to gaining maturity with age:D

Defend who you want butI didnt say he was anti Liverpool , I dont really want to go into the reasons for my opinions, for me the evidence to back up my thinking is on the board and he has accepted himslf that some of his posts regarding United have been inaccurate .

What are you talking about, I have never claimed to be impartial.
If you see my reluctance to respond to every childish jibe thrown at Utd as taking the high moral ground thats your problem. A lot of thread here lately have been turned into UTD, Liverpool and Arsenal bashing and I think its having a detrimental effect on the forum so I choose not to take the bait this time to avoid the same happening this one.

I suggest you read some of my post again like the ones that
praised the gunners for their performance against Derby and Newcastle . I have also posted positive comments on Liverpool but not as much as the opportunity does not arise very often.

It does not surprise me that you see me as being rabidly anti Liverpool . You appear to see that a lot:D

Yes, but I think his point is that people can make negative comments about a team without always being anti-that team.

I think lot of posters on this forum tend to see "demons" where there aren't any.

Its quite a common psychological tactic. Unite under the guise of "the wronged" and victimise those who disagree with you. (and I'm not referring to any specific cases here, before you start reading into things).

Which you yourself have taken part in. As well as trying to start flames with me for no reason. Don't deny it, you popped into threads I was posting on to post sarky remarks and rise me totally off topic. Then you accuse me of "directly posting at you". Sheesh.

Well if that isn't a barbed compliment then I don't know what is.
See you try take the moral highground but are guilty o most of the things you accuse and berate others of doing. Good role model there for the rest of us. I think you are just an ABL

    No.

    For three reasons.

    1. I couldn't be arsed, you know you do it, because you do it deliberately

    2. I'm not bothered debating the context of old posts with you when you deny it all.

    3. You didn't say please.

I agree with Fish that this shuld be dropped, which i think was my point from the start so as i said earlier i will ignore your crap from now on.

No, its just that I don't have the time or inclination to go trawling through old threads at a snap of your fingers. But think of the "you are blind" comments that made there way off topic into several unrelated threads. Hey if you feel your link gives you justification, fine, but justification and denial are two separate things. :)
