Eurogamer have a big preview of the follow up to X - beyond the Frontier. Its again trying to be the new Elite, and this time it looks more promising.
I have the original game but didnt spend more that 2 weeks playing it, it just didnt grab me the way Frontier: Elite2 did but will probably buy it mainly cause i'm a sucker for Space games.:)

Downloaded the rolling demo from egosoft webiste and it looks quite nice.

That rolling demo really is lovely, and gives you an idea of how the game will run on your machine to boot (not well enough in my case!). I especially love the space-suit bit at the end, so claustrophobic...

After my bitter disappointment with Freelancer, maybe here's a game to finally fill Elite's shoes? Here's hoping.
