    They have a few different ones in the Irish Times today.
    Here is one;
    eircom Limited has today, 3rd October 2003, made an amendment to the Telecommunications Scheme, 2003. This amendment introduces a PSTN in-situ connection promotion.

    Details including effective dates are available on the internet at www. eircom.ie/pricing or by dialling eircom Customer Information Service on 1800 203 105.

    Here is another;

    What is all this about?

    Looks like they are reducing PSTN line installation fee to zero where they already have the physical line in place (e.g. after a disconnection) for a limited period of time. Fresh lines keep the existing fee.

    See:
    http://www.eircom.ie/About/Activities/pending.pdf (page 7).

    People may be dropping their PSTN line in favour of mobiles. If so, serves them right for raising line rental so much.

    Also, call charges changing on pay phones. I have not checked the original figures, but the changes are probably for the worse being Eircom.

    It may also mean you can convert your ISDN line to PSTN for nothing during this period. Maybe FRIACO has shafted their metered profits more than expected and they are now actually trying to sell DSL rather than erecting obstacles.

    Don't know much about VPN. What is a 'VPN call'? Can you not just set up your own VPN?

    At least they now publish this information on-line.
    This is another little known IOFFL success by the way.
    Until members here complained to Comreg and suggested they require eircon to web publish you used have to go personally to an eircon store to read the details behind these little notices...
