Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

There is fresh speculation this morning that United are facing a takeover bid after Sky announce that they have sold their 10% stake. No word yet on the buyers but it looks like somethings afoot. Intesting times ahead me thinks.

The buyer is a company called 'Cubic Expression' which is a holding company owned by the Coolmore mafia...

Umm, it is either the Irish contingent or the US billionaire who already has 5% of the club.

We may need the money to buy a defeneder if Rio is banned :p

Not sure if a takeover would be good or not here's links to the story.
    Independent
    Football365
    Skynews

It was announced of the Pat Kenny show (So i've been told) that McManus is the mystery buyer.

Well its definitely the Irish crowd that have bought it..

Irish racehorse owners JP McManus and John Magnier now own almost a quarter of Manchester United's shares after buying BSkyB's stake in the club today.

The Cubic Expression Company - owned by the pair - were today confirmed as the buyers for Sky's 9.9% stake, paying over £62million to increase their holding in the Barclaycard Premiership champions to 23.15%.

A United statement to the Stock Exchange read: 'Manchester United has now been advised that the Cubic Expression Company Limited has, as at October 7 2003, a holding of 60,144,730 ordinary shares representing approximately 23.15% of the issued share capital of Manchester United.'

The announcement will only add to speculation that United are being lined up for a takeover.

They seem to think that they boys have bought in expecting a large takeover from a billionaire in the near future.

It is odd, but it is based on either the fact that they want to make a quick buck and know that they will get good money for their shares when the big hero comes in to buy out United or else they really want to p**s Sir A off

I think it would be quite exciting if a tookover occured. Im 100% certain if a takeover was going to happen, Sir Alex would be given the funds he needs. And he would be treated like a God!

takeovers are bad idea's. leaving 1 person to have complete control over the club is at some point going to cause problems. at least jp and john have an interest and support the club, more than abremhivic does for chelsea.

tha fans dont want a takeover and that was made clear with bskyb's attempt a few years ago. utd or feguson dont need the money as their the richest club in the world, fans should own the club, not pure business men that have no interest in the club on the field.

Show me one link where macmanus and magnier have an intrest and support the club???

They are purely increasing their share for financial gain. The two of them are rich but they are nowhere near abramovichs league. They have 100-200 million each max(and thats for all their business ventures), so they arent going to bankroll any big spending.

They have no background is soccer whatsoever, they are purely from the racing industry.

what would their relationship with Ferguson have to do with this. not as if it was he who was selling shares

parhaps their buying these shares to PREVENT a takeover. having 25% of manu means theres likely to be nobody else coming in. hopefully anyway.

I stand corrected, but I would taken that article with a ton of salt:D
