    Good evening all,

First of all- you are no doubt aware that there is an oral consultation in Dublin on the proposed changes to Irish Adoption Legislation.

The dates are 17 and 18 October at the Hilton Hotel, Charlemont Place, Dublin 2.

People who made a written submission on the legislation have at this time received a e-mail with an invitation, or an official written invitation from the Department of Health and Children to attend these hearings (which include a series of workshops).

At present there are in the region of 220 invites gone out- how many of them are to adopted people, or people who understand our needs and our rights? We'll know on the day- unfortunately, it can only be expected that the vast bulk of those 220 are social workers, agency representatives, other groups with vested interests- not you- so get your name in, turn up, and make a difference for us all.

If you are capable of going- please make that little effort- you will have the opportunity to have a say in shaping a better future for all of us. If you have not already done so I urge you to contact the Department of Health and Children immediately to have your name included in the list of invited guests. Even at this late stage, it is possible to be issued an invite.

    Details:

    bernadette_fearon@health.irlgov.ie
    Jackie_Hickey@health.irlgov.ie

Fax no. is +353-1-6719530 (its the Childcare Legislation Unit)
Jackie Hickey's phone number is: +353-1-6354516

Please make any effort that you possibly can to attend this consultation- it is YOUR chance to have a say in our future- all 42,000 of us.

    Take care,

    Shane McCarrick
