    Why doesnt Bus Éireann get new buses with twin axels at the back and fitted with toilets?

    It would make travel a great deal easier and more comfortable. Twin axel (at the back) buses are a great deal more comfortable and mean the pot holes arent as noticable...

    soo why dont they get them?

    Would anyone here use a toilet on a Bus Eireann bus. I'm just shuddering at the thought.

    Twin axels are used to lower the individual load weight on longer and heavier vehicles, not sure how effective they would be in smothing the ride quality. Irish roads are more than a match for any suspension system yet invented.
    BE have toilets on the coaches they use for the eurolines services which spend hours on motorways, trying to using a toilet on many Irish main roads would be a high risk activity.

    They tried toilet equipped buses with on-board refreshments for a short time on Dublin - Limerick with the inevitable result of food and drink flying all over the bus, lots of dry cleaning bills and several lawsuits for scalding passengers.

    yes the defintely reduced the effect of going over potholes. A big improvement. Probably cost a lot more though. If you think of one tyre going into a pothole the other ones would support the weight of the bus. It of course depends how bad the road is. some guy told me that who was studying puematics.

    good point about the toilet, oh well!

    Was in Argentina earlier this year, main transport mode is the bus and despite the generally bad roads, the ride was comfortable and smooth (twin axel buses). Sleeper seats(2-1), excellent pitch and recline.

    Oh between Buenos Aires and Cordoba, our bus broke down at 3am somewhere along the Pan American highway. The company
    (Chevallier) dispatched another bus in about one hour from nearby Rosario.

    Not a bad way to travel despite my initial reservations about long distance bus travel.
