Can you give a bit more info? What dvd player do you have? Does it have an onboard decoder and if so are you looking to connect in your speakers directly. If not are you looking for a seperate amp and speakers?

I see no mention of either a budget or a destination room size. What size TV are you using? The more info you give the better advice people can offer in return.

    What's the budget ?
You'll need an A/V receiver anyway as your DVD probably doesn't have DTS decoder...

    Thanks,
Still I think buying a receiver will give you many benefits as suppose to byuing a 5.1 amplified set of speakers, however it all depends on the budget.....which you haven't said yet.

To do it right and cheap you would need about €600

Get a receiver amp (it has a radio tuner and with your DVD player being a CD player your stereo was just made obselete)

www.richersounds.ie have a decent selection of amps as its your 1st budgeting 200 to 250 will get you a decent model and then the balance on a set of speakers from richer sounds also.

    Amp for 250

    Speakers for 350

That should do you then when you become a nerdy audiophile like us you can spend stupid amounts of money or ES amps and speakers that are born and not made :D
