160 GB supported?

I've bought a new hard disk, samsung 160GB. I've hooked it up and ran Windows 2000 Professional.

In Disk Management, it's only coming up as 128 GB!?

I've got a Asus A7N8X-X motherboard, AMD athlon 2000 CPU and plenty of RAM.

Is this a windows thing or a BIOS thing? How do i find out what capacity my BIOS supports?

    Cheers

Its your bios, you need to update it. Download SiSoft Sandra, it'll give you all the info you need about your pc. Once you find out the vendor and the model, visit their site for a bios update! Tada!

I had a similar issue with my mobo, an Abit KT7a. In my case it was the bios version. The abit website gives a history of what updates are for what. I assume you could get the same from the asus website??

From samsungs site, although the size is wrong, probably correct.

This seems a bit more promising..

What you might need to do is go into Windows Registry and EnableBigLba and that should solve your problem....

What type of controller is on mobo??
    Is ATA-6 or above....

Have a link at home....fish it out later

I had same problem on different asus board
