Pinging java proggie.

    Does anyone know if this can or has been done? A java applet that will ping an ip address and reeturn a boolean on the status of the computer? If anyone has seen this or can do it(?) could you tell me pls.

    can be done alright..
    not boolean though, but using the Url class, as each of the URL methods throws a MalformedURLException if it cant open a stream to that url's protocol.
    Haven't messed around with the URL class much but maybe you can do something with that..

    ehhh pinging can be done in SSI.
    thats possibly the easiest way to do it.
    course maybe you specifically want a java applet so that you can specify different ips.
