Tax Incentive Irish Islands??

    Are there any islands around the coast of Ireland where tax incentives are in place (e.g. maybe lower income tax or other tax incentives) to anyone who resides there?

    - as an incentive to encourage people to reside on the island(s)

    Not really, other than a car used exclusively on an island pays a very low rate of road tax. Why should they incentivise people to live on islands, when it is more expensive to live there? Tranport and other services are already subsidised.

    That said most islands in Ireland are in the BMW region and like their mainland counterparts are entitled to greater state grants to business.

    No NCT if there is no car ferry service. There are no ongoing incentives save island allowances for Civil Servants. They should have the same system in Dublin, an island of price insanity if ever I saw one.

    Most special requirements are grant aided which is different to capital allowance and other tax relief, otherwise half the IFSC would be lurking on Inishbofin.

    An island is defined as not connected by bridge to the mainland, Dursey is connected by cablecar and the rest by ferry of some sort. Achill, the biggest, is accessible by a bridge.
