    I just came across this at lunchtime today ... it's acompetition being run by the European Southern Observatory for schools and the closing date is OCTOBER 30!!!

    the current list of registered projects is at
    http://www.eso.org/outreach/eduoff/catchastar/cas-projects.html -- and there's only one from Ireland!!! A total of 140 projects have been registered so far and statistically there's a very good chance of being in the prizes. So thinking caps on folks!!!

    why? Well, Irish students have had an extraordinary success in international schools competitions organised by Space and Telescope agencies. Three Blackrock College pupils were the overall European
    winners of a similar ESO event a couple of years ago and won trips to Chile. A member of the same group was also part of the overall winning team in a Nasa-hosted world-wide contest on designing an orbiting space
    station. Another student in Meath also won a trip to see the launch of the European built X-ray Multi-Mirror satellite from Koukoru in French Guyana. Let's keep up the Irish success story!!!
