Does anyone know what the story is with broadband coming to Cavan town? Has Eircom forgot about us altogether. There are three second level schools in the town as well as two primary ones. It has the biggest third level plc college out side of Dublin and a new library costing 10 million is been built. Surely they can’t expect this library to run with ISDN. I have rang Eircom numerous times and can’t get any info out of them.

    RURAL BROADBAND INITIATIVE

    IRISH CENTRAL BORDER AREA NETWORK

The Irish Central Border Area Network (ICBAN Ltd.) is a cross-border body representing 10 local authorities in Fermanagh, Tyrone, Armagh, Donegal, Sligo, Leitrim, Cavan and Monaghan. We wish to recruit a telecommunications provider or consortium of providers as a strategic and operational partner for a bid for European Regional Development Fund resources for the purposes of bringing broadband to selected rural areas in the ICBAN region within an integrated cross-border project operational framework.

This will be an exciting cross-border opportunity aimed at improving the infrastructure for economic development in a marginalised and peripheral region as it responds to the challenges of economic and spatial change on both sides of the border.
