Just trying to run scandisk on a Windows 98 install and it falls over on a bad cluster error. Of course scandisk cannot recover properly from this error. Now I am wondering if there is a decent freeware tool that might scan and fix the Install and also perform a surface scan?

    Reboot - F8 - command prompt only..
    Scandisk /All /Autofix /Suface
    CD win98
    Setup /?
    Setup /im /is /iq - at a guess.. been a while

Note: scandisk can't get past some errors - CHKDSK /F
