Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

ATi already responded (on HardOcp and others) basically saying its all lies and (nVidia) fanboy talk. I dont quite buy that its 100% BS.

it's to do with the ability to overclock the card AFAIK. My monitor is permanently stuck in standby mode so I can't check them out until I get a replacement up on Saturday, but from what I've read, it's basically a load of BS - you can overheat ANY card if you mess with the voltages and speed, and ANY monitor can be fecked up with bad timing settings.

They said on WIn98/ME they use the INI file, but do not use it on 2000/XP.

Think about it - what causes overheating? Overclocking!

I dont think the official drivers were ever questioned but the experimental omega drivers were.

Nope, it was definately the official drivers, ATi would hardly issue a PR about Omega's drivers, who is after all just "some bloke". Infact, users reported the Omega 3.8 drivers didnt have the problems... never liked them myself however.

The "overheating" is a minor issue, the big picture here is the 183 dead monitors of users after using Cat 3.8. Overclocking the gfx card will not and did not have anything to do with monitor failure.

I suggest you look here for more info and commentary: http://www.overclockers.com/articles853/

Ah the thing he was talking about was an overheating problem with the omega drivers. Slightly different matter.
