    oh jesus christ its a thread. bashó is not going to roll in his grave because we didn't strictly adhere to his haiku-form poetic style. haiku is about saying as much as you can in as few words possible. the 5,7,5 rule is for people who find it difficult to limit themselves when they speak creatively. it is not a dogma of haiku and it never was. so it was at least somewhat pedantic to question magpies haiku.
