    Hey,

Just installed clickserver. At the moment I am getting 8,000,000 bps and 14k off download site. Not porn :)

Is that normal or am I getting bad connection ? The phone port is 30 foot away and useing a 30 foot cable. Would that be causeing the possible bad connection ?

I,m afraid that those speeds are normal for clicksilver at the moment. Read the other posts in here about this. Seems most of the new customers signed up in the last few weeks are getting awful speeds.

mick, this is a load of bull. There have been 3 or 4 posts from people complaining - UTV must be signing up hundreds of users per week.

There was a post from martin at UTV today saying that they can't fid evidence of any problem.

Look on the Newsgroup, there are alot of people with problems

In fairness, there's only a few people on the newsgroup having problems also, and it doesn't seem to be the norm for Clicksilver users, or maybe I'm just missing a bunch of posts somewhere..

Damnyanks, send Martin a mail with "DSL Speed issues" in the subject line.

I'll bet money that all the moaners are those who live on the cusp of the RADSL distance limit.

WAIT. 30 FOOT??? That could cause problems, yes! You should try never to use a cable >10 foot as you'll see speed degredation. Try a shorter cable and see if there's any change

Being one of the moaners that ur on about, i live close to my exchange and not on the "Cusp"as you say, even if that was the problem why with multi thread downloads am i getting full speeds and not when browsing?

    heh.
I've got a 15m cable going from the socket downstairs to the dsl router in my room upstairs. I'm on netsource and I get 55KB/s all the time.

    :P

You're better off not posting at all if this is the height of your contribution

The cable has run for a few miles between your gaff and the exchange - I'm sure another 30 feet won't make much difference!

She's right. I've seen cables that length cause problems aswell.

Does something happen between your phone and the street then?

Is there a capacitor or filter or something between you and the road?

I dont know much about this stuff but I always imagined that the line between you phone and the exchange was pretty much straight through.

I am amazed at some of the rubbish that is posted here by some of the so called UTV defenders - do you have any basis for posting this type of claim?

Does it never occurr to you that people who use Clicksilver would far prefer to be getting on with using the net at the speed they are paying UTV 47.5 euro a month for than having to waste their time here and in the UTV ´support´newsgroup trying to get UTV to supply a proper product?

Does it never occur to you that some of the people who are complaining went with Clicksilver when it was announced because previously they had got very good service from UTV and indeed had recommended UTV to lots of people?

Can you not understand how angry people feel when it takes UTV over a week to respond in the newsgroup to a very irate series of postings?

And finally next time you stop to think enjoy the experience it seems a very rare occurrence!
