2003 has been an incredible year for IOFFL. Huge increase in broadband availability and competition (of a sort) in the market place. Flat rate introduced. A Minister who listens and is at the very least apparently “on-message”. Very very positive feedback from our interaction with both DCMNR and the Joint Committee. Successful transition from the former chairman to the current one. Astonishing response at the AGM when we asked for volunteers for the committee.

Some tension is inevitable. As IOFFL moves from being a fringe single issue group to being THE representative of the on-line user in Ireland it is inevitable that there will be differing viewpoints and tension.

IOFFL is up against some very powerful forces in Irish Society. IBEC, Lord O’Reilly, Eircom, British Telecom etc. To have achieved so much is incredible. There is no other voluntary body in Ireland that has seen so much of its agenda addressed in so short a time.

To those of you who continue to give of your time, well done. And in particular well done to the Chairmen, both past and present.
