Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

what does the following mean in simple english.:
It is a 64-bit iterative block cipher with a 128-bit key and eight rounds.

im trying to get a grasp on encryption.

Its sound like your typical symmetric block cipher. It has a key length of 128 bits meaning, the key, ie the shared secret is 128 bits long. It block size is 64bits meaning it encrypts in blocks of 64 bits - breaks any message up into blocks of 64 or pads a message if its less than 64 bits. Iterative with 8 rounds means that what ever process is used to encrypt the data happens eight times, say you pass a message to a function say f, the message will be passed through it 8 times. So say your plaintext is p and your ciphertext is c, then c = f( f( f( f( f( f( f( f(p)))))))). I hope that make sense. Examples would be des, blowfish, idea etc....
