I got Eircom's RADSL in the late Spring of this year, after pestering ComReg about it for quite some time. Because I was migrating from ISDN I decided to opt for Eircom's Starter Pack - engineer install - no modem (The €54.45 package)

The bills have settled down now, installation charges and all the other stuff is out of the way.

I'm home alone this weekend and have nothing better to do, so I compared my Sept-Oct 2002 eircom bill with my Sept-Oct 2003 bill. Here's a summary of the result.....

    ______________2002_____2003
    Rental................ 61.98...... 127.18
    Voice Calls......... 52.32........ 18.05
    Internet Calls... 225.81......... 0.42
    "Discount".......... -7.38........ -0.36
    VAT.................... 69.87........ 30.51
    Total................ 402.60...... 175.80

I'll admit that there is a small reduction due to fewer voice calls. But the bottom line is a saving of over €200 on one bill. This is €1,200 per annum in my pocket. And I have "always-on". And I have much much faster access. Its Win-Win-Win for moi. And Loose-Loose-Loose for eircom.

What I am left to wonder is how much more fat there is in the remaining bills. Progress, but much work left for IOFFL to do.

Eircom, - I salute you. Eircom I feel your pain.
