Philips DVDR 880

My Philips DVDR 880 displays "No disc" for some DVD videos but not all, it reads others perfectly (DVD's not faulty). It reads and records all DVD+RW's no problem. Any suggestions why this is happening.

Dirty lens maybe ?
Are they original or burnt ? if they are burnt maybe it will accept certain media and not others. Are you sure they are burnt in the proper format (RW, +R, -R or what ever it supports) ?
