IF they continue as they are by January they will be well out of it.

That is what i said in the post you linked. Notice the first word in this sentence. I have not written Liverpool off for the titile but to expect both Arsenal Chelsea and Man Utd all to drop the amount of points to enable Liverpool to win it would be very unlikely.

Anyhoo, back on topic. Cisse for 2Mill!! Some damn fine business there from Houllier..

I really hope we get Cisse. It seems Liverpool is the only club he wants to go to and I hope this holds out. For 2million we have another steel on our hands just like Mr. Kewell. Imagine Owen and Cisse up front :)

As for Rivaldo I don't know where he would play unless Hamann leaeves and Gerrard holds onto the holding midfield role. After Cisse I only wish for one more player and thats Boumsong or a pacey defender of his quality to partner Hyypia.

back on topic ok. I read that the interview with Michael Owen that has caused such a stir this week actually took place last August and is not as was reporterd in some quaters a new statement from him. It Looks Like the tabloids are just stirring again.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,164 ✭✭✭Space Coyote

Getting Cissé, if we definitely do, is more a steal than Harry even. Class bit of business. Just hope Man U or some other fúckers don't come in an steal him. If we got Rivaldo (i don't think he'd do much for us, he's far too lazy) he could be used instead of smicer or murphy, who i think are lucky to be still involved in the team. Smicer has played bette rthis season in fairness, but Murphy has been rubbish since the last third of last season. He plays a brilliant pass or two the odd time, but a lot of the time his passing can be atrocious. What did he do in the Man Utd game apart from that killer ball to Heskey ?

I use "We" to describe all those associated with LFC to include supporters, players, anfield staff etc etc. I buy the jerseys, hence make a contribtion to the club so would include myself in "we".

So to sum up, Houllier should be promoted and replaced then Pool will do something?

    1. Promote him, for what? Seems to me he's messed up things big time and has wasted an inordinate amount of money.

    2. What is a new manager going to buy players with? To turn Pool into a championship winning team let alone which could compete in Europe would take a hell of a lot of money, at least £50m. Poll don't have the sort of revenue to bankroll that, and that's without building a new stadium.

And, yet again, how does buying a jersey entitle one to use "We"?
By the logic used, anyone with a Vodafone phone can use "WE" when talking about the Man Utd team, FERRARI F1 team or even the England Rugby team.

Support your local team, gents. This fascination with English soccer drains money out of Irish football and ensures English teams have new stadia to play in.

Liverpool are an English team, buying a Liverpool jersey just ensures the English FA have a bigger pool of resources to draw upon.

Bohs VS Shels tonight in Dalymount. Let's see Irish people support Irish football for a change.

At this stage last year I thought Utd had no chance of the title so
I would not rule any of the top teams from winning this years one. That said the top 3 would all have to flop pretty badly to drop enough points to let the others win it.

You said I had written Liverpool off this year and that is a misrepresetation of what I said. I did say that if they didnt improve on their results to date they will be out of the running by Christmas. I think even the most ardent Liverpool fan can see that .

But hasn't GH bought Diao, Smicer, Heskey, Riise, etc., an array of useless talent. If he was in charge of a normal business and spent like that he would have been out on his ear long ago.

    Look at his current team?
Dudek? Not up to it. Contender for Man Utd POY two seasons on the trot.
Hechoz? The ultimate in cheating c-back. Nasty spoiler, again not good enough.
    Carragher, Not good enough,
Hyppia? Fading away by the game
    Hamman? Not good enough
Kewell? Fancy boy. The odd goal maybe but nothing constructive.
Little Mickey? No decent service so he'll have to continue his diving and cheating.
Heskey? Enough said. (And he cost £11m?)

The only players worth their salt are Gerrard (headless sometimes) and little mickey.

Would I be wrong in saying that you are a Man U fan Rodney. This is the same Kewell that Man U were chasing last season, and as for Michael Diving and cheating, perhaps he has been watching videos of RVN, who could easily win any olympic diving contest.

Dudek- better for far longer than bloody Howard!
Henchoz- A spoiler he may be but he'd walk into almost any centre half partnership in the Prem.
    Carra- Solid
Hyppia- I'd rather have him than 25m overpriced and soon not to be playing Rio.
Hamman- Now you're just being silly!
Kewell- Fergie fancies him even if you dont.
Owen- Trotting behind RVN in the cheating stakes.
    Heskey- Agreed!:D

Unless yez get very delayed premiership coverage down in the sticks I dont know where you are seeing yer football. I have not seen RVN dive in a match in nearly a year. If you like to make some recent comparisons I suggest Pires or Pongool or if it must be a utd player Ronaldo would be more up to date examples to use.:D

Come on chap.. Ruud is a diving bollox, its part of his game and everyone knows it. It is ok to suggest that the penalty decision in the match was 50 50, but Pongolle didnt dive. You are just being difficult.

As for Saha being better that Cisse, I cant disagree more.

I may be wrong, but was that not posed more as a question?

Look at his logic. He is saying that if the ref decided it was not a penalty, then he must have thought Pongolle dived. If he dived, he should have got a yello card, which he did not...

Note the first line of his post.
I think it was a penalty and I think Graham Poll bottled it as it was a game breaker.

So, to the conclusion. Lets break his post into small managable quotes.

I think it was a penalty and I think Graham Poll bottled it as it was a game breaker

Suggests it should have been a penalty
Like if Pongolle had dived why was he not yellow carded because he had blatently dived a few minutes before. Ronaldo gets carded for diving

If he dived, he should have been booked..
What I'm getting at is, if Poll didn't think it was a foul why didin't he have a word with Pongy fro diving.

If he dived, he should have been booked..
t leads me to only one conclusion. There was grounds for a peno and he bottled it especially after seeing O'Brein being red carded and conceding a peno for fouling a man outside the box. It defies logic

Suggests it should have been a penalty, again...

    JONNO, am I right?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,617 ✭✭✭✭PHB

Maybe it should have been a peno, maybe it shouldn't have been, I think it should have been, but the problem is that the ref decided it shouldn't.
The problem is the rule that you have to give someone the red if they are last man back. They should change this rule.

As for the game, everyone knew this game would come down to a bit of luck as it always does.

What part of "he had blatently dived a few minutes before." is confusing you. That is what jono said while talking about an incident in the match regarding pongool.

You can try twist his words as much as you like but the meaning of the above quote is blatently clear.

Btw i notice you keep refering to the penalty incident. That is not what I or Jono are talking about in this instance.

Do you fancy telling me what the hell you are talking about then? The post you have referred too is clearly about the penalty decision for the United and Liverpool match...

Again, a number of posts ago you referred to Pongolle as a diver, I said that was not true and you referred to Jonno's post to highlight a Liverpool supporter agreeing with you..

Where as, the post you referred to does not say that at all. It says the total opposite..

I have to admit to having felt a bit dirty everytime I saw em.. I kept thinking that if I ignored them, they would just go away but it never happened. Then I met some capital letters and we developed a good relationship, it was them that helped me overcome my fears of loosing my underscores.. It feels different still, but I thinking will work out for the best...

    Two things.

    1. Tha lad dived. (Straight out of the Heskey-Owen school of gravity loss.)

    2. As far as I could see the ref did not award a penalty.
(Any debate on the issue is irrelevant, anyone claiming it was apeno is sadly, for them, mistaken.)
