Lobby group Ireland Offline has welcomed ComReg's offer of 59 3.5GHz FWALA (Fixed Wireless Access) licences. There are many benefits to the consumer from these offers, the group said, adding that the strict licence obligations for offering services mean that service providers have to offer end-user products within a defined timescale. Also the fact that licences offer greater geographical coverage than ADSL pleased the organisation. "We hope there is good take-up of these offers by the applicant companies," Ireland Offline's chairman Christian Cooke said. "People are crying out for choice and, for the first time, these licences create that possibility."
